Our Annual Business Dinner December the 2nd at 6:30 at The Maryland Club

Gentlemen,

Please join us on Wednesday, December the 2nd at 6:30 at The Maryland Club for our annual Business Dinner. Our honored speaker will be Rear Admiral Terence E. McKnight, USN (RET).
A native of Norfolk, Virginia, Rear Admiral Terence E. McKnight, USN (RET) graduated from the Virginia Military Institute in May 1978 and completed his master’s degree in International Relations at Salve Regina University in May 1998. Moreover, he graduated from the U.S. Army War College in 1994 and also attended the National Security Seminar at Syracuse University in 2001.
McKnight also served as the 85th commandant of Naval District Washington, the oldest continuously operated Navy installation in the nation and the deputy commander, Joint Force Headquarters National Capital Region.
He assumed duties as Commander, Expeditionary Strike Group 2, in September 2007 and served as the first Commander of Task Force 151 for counter-piracy operations in January 2009.
Personal decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal and Navy Meritorious Service Medal.
In 2012, he authored his first book, Pirate Alley: Commanding Task Force 151 off Somalia and was named Naval Proceedings “Notable Naval Book of 2012. Additionally, he has written several articles on maritime security that has appeared in a variety of international and domestic newspapers and magazines. He continues to lecture extensively on the issues of global maritime piracy.

On his retirement from the Navy in 2009, he joined Cobham, a defense firm, and holds the position of Senior Vice President, Government Relations.
This annual dinner is an event for members and prospective members only, but we encourage all members to bring guests who may be interested in applying to our organization. Please see the attached invitation.

BYOB and bring appetizers for all if you can. VOM will supply soda, ice, cups, mixers, utensils, etc. We will be delivering rosettes to any 10+ year members who have not received theirs yet, discussing this years scholarship award, and also discussing our annual business dinner on December 2nd at The Maryland Club. Everyone always immensely enjoys this event at one of the area’s loveliest homes.

Virginians of Maryland Spring Cocktail Party this Thursday June 4th

Gentlemen,

Another reminder to all, we will be holding our Spring Cocktail Party at the home of Dave and Holly Poulos on this Thursday evening June 4th. This will be from 6:00 to 9:00 at our hosts lovely home, which as those who attended the previous cocktail party will recall, has a world class outdoor pool, patio and grill area.
